Public House

The Stamford is a modern interpretation of the good old-fashioned pubs you remember fondly from times gone by. It is a social space enjoyed by all, including a sunshine terrace to the front and an open-air pop-up summer bar in the old stable block. We cook all our food fresh and, of course, serve the perfect pint of Guinness to accompany it.

Functions

We have a large function room adjoining The Stamford called ‘The Ugly Duckling’ (don’t worry, it’s anything but ugly). With a private entrance and its own feature island bar, The Ugly Duckling comfortably accommodates events for up to 150 guests for a variety of uses. For smaller gatherings, we also have snugs, nooks, and crannies in the pub to make for a more intimate affair.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you dog-friendly?

Yes, well-behaved dogs kept on leads are welcome throughout the pub, inside and out. We also have a complimentary dog bar with fresh water, treats, and towels for muddy paws.

Do you take bookings in the pub?

Yes, you can book your table online through the link on the website or call us if you prefer. We always hold back tables in the pub for walk-ins, and we don’t book out the high bar tables, as we like to leave these for casual drinkers. Outside (when the weather permits), we operate tables on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get here early to grab your sunshine seats.

How can I book a function?

You can’t book for large parties through the online booking system, so please either fill in the booking request form or give us a call or email to discuss ( 01619291221 | events@thestamfordatbowdon.com )

Are children allowed in the pub?

Yes, we again welcome well-behaved children into all areas of the pub. There is no curfew; all we ask is that they don’t tear around the place, as there are lots of trays of Guinness floating around and hot food that can quite easily cause carnage. We have a large selection of board games in the main pub area to keep them entertained if the battery on your iPad or phone dies.

What about parking?

We have a large free-to-use car park just past the old stable block on The Firs. We are also installing a couple of electric charging points, so watch this space. There is also ample parking on surrounding roads, and blue badge holders can park on the road in front of the pub.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

We do indeed, but we currently only have paper vouchers that can be bought and paid for by visiting the pub. The benefit of this is that they look pretty and come in a nice envelope. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have the facility to pay for gift vouchers online or over the phone.

I want to come and work for you. How do I go about it?

If you’d like to become part of the team and think you have the personality to shine in this fast-paced but fun environment, we’d love to hear from you. Please email your CV to nicholas@thestamfordatbowdon.com alongside a brief cover letter stating why we should pick you.
